About Clothing Concept

Sourced in South Africa. Made in Mauritius.

Founded in 1990, Clothing Concept runs on two legs. Our head office handles sourcing, client relationships and quality standards out of Gqeberha in South Africa. Our own manufacturing operation sits at the Coromandel Industrial Estate in Mauritius.

That split matters. Because we own the manufacturing side rather than sub-contracting it out, we can commit to a delivery date, hold a specification and inspect the goods while they are still on our own floor. One team is accountable from quotation to dispatch.

  • High quality at a price you can still trade on
  • Short delivery terms backed by our own manufacturing capacity
  • Leisure wear and corporate wear ranges available from stock
  • Custom models produced to your own pattern or tech pack
  • One point of contact in South Africa from quotation through to delivery

Our services

Five jobs we do so you don't have to.

Everything between your specification and a delivered, inspected order, across both our South African and Mauritian operations.

Sourcing

A consistent, market-driven approach to anticipating and satisfying what you actually need.

  • Sourcing the right product against your specification
  • Manufacturing to requirement in Mauritius, not to whatever a mill has running
  • Product development in line with current trend
  • Representing your interest in every negotiation

Manufacturing

Our own production operation at the Coromandel Industrial Estate in Mauritius, not a sub-contracted line we have to negotiate with.

  • Cutting, make and trim under our own management
  • Capacity booked against your delivery date, not the factory's queue
  • Special models produced to your pattern alongside our own collection
  • Leisure and corporate ranges held in stock

Quality control

Skilled staff and inspection experience are what keep a good sample from becoming a bad delivery.

  • Evaluation of manufacturing concerns before you commit
  • Supervision on our own factory floor throughout the run
  • You stay informed through the entire run
  • Final quality inspection report on completion

Marketing

Every order delivered inside the agreed window and in conformity with requirements.

  • Knowledge of sourcing markets, kept current
  • Suppliers assessed on a continuous basis
  • Regular contact with clients, not only at order time

Merchandising

The extra mile is mostly administrative, and it is where orders are usually lost.

  • Customised order management
  • Personalised contact and attention to requirements
  • Monitoring the entire order-to-delivery process

How an order runs

From first enquiry to delivered stock.

A typical order moves through six stages, briefed and costed in South Africa and produced in Mauritius. You are told where it stands at each one.

Brief & costing

You send the garment, quantity, target price and required delivery date. We confirm feasibility and quote.

Sampling

We produce a sample against your specification or pattern, and adjust until you sign it off.

Fabric & trim

Fabric, thread, labels and trims are sourced and approved before a single unit is cut.

Production

The line is booked and supervised at our Mauritius operation. You receive progress feedback for the length of the run.

Inspection

Finished goods are inspected against the approved sample and a final report is issued.

Packing & delivery

Goods are packed to your requirements and shipped from Mauritius inside the agreed window.

Quality & assurance

The inspection happens before it ships, not after.

Most sourcing problems are not discovered at the factory. They are discovered at the receiving bay, when it is expensive to fix. Because the Mauritius line is ours, we inspect against the approved sample while the goods are still in our hands.

Approved sample as the standard

Nothing goes into production until you have signed off a physical sample.

In-line supervision

Production is watched while it runs, not audited once it is finished.

Written inspection report

Every completed order is documented before dispatch.

Measurement & sizing checks

Size sets are verified against your grading, not the factory's.

Common questions

Before you enquire.

What is your minimum order quantity?

It depends on the garment and the fabric. Simple knitted items run economically at lower volumes than a structured jacket or a specialised medical fabric. Tell us the product and the quantity you have in mind and we will tell you honestly whether it is viable.

How long does an order take?

Sampling generally runs a few weeks, and production depends on quantity, fabric availability and how much of the specification is settled up front. We give you a date at quotation stage and tell you immediately if anything threatens it.

Can you produce to our own pattern or tech pack?

Yes. Besides our own collection we regularly produce special models to client specification. Send a tech pack, a physical sample or even a clear photograph and we will tell you what is required.

Can you brand the garments?

Yes. Woven and printed labels, embroidery and printing are all standard on our corporate ranges, and can be applied to fashion and medical items as well.

Where are the garments actually made?

Yes. Our manufacturing operations are based in Mauritius and we supply across South Africa, Mauritius and neighbouring countries. Get in touch with your location and we will confirm lead times and shipping terms for your market.

What do you need from us to quote?

Four things: the garment, the quantity, your target landed price and the date you need it. A sample or reference image speeds things up considerably.
